Summary

Hi all. Miss our 'summary' activities? Nyahaha. Anyway, inspired by Ling Hooi's idea of writing down our thoughts and 'messages' to our course-mates, I'm hereby kicking things off. :)

I'm going by the very first namelist we were given as a class, in our first semester. Not sure if all of you still have it. Here goes:

Kimmy

Kimmy was one of the first few people whom I got to know. She was one of the handful whose names I remembered from our interview. She was friendly and talkative and I sort of guessed that she would get accepted. So it was nice when I saw her again during Haluansiswa. Old grandma's story aside, I bonded quite well with her, and even more so after the second semester when we both underwent PM training together. Amazing memories! She was one of the few who made the tough training bearable, and even fun. Sleeping together, taking showers together, waking up together, getting dressed together, (sorry it sounds a little lesbianic), dragging our butts up to the court for morning exercise together. Drifted apart a little at the beginning of the 3rd semester, but got closer again last semester. She has helped me through a lot of things, and I truly appreciate my friendship with her. Quick-witted, funny, confident, caring and capable, I know she'll go on to achieve great things in life. So here's to a blinding bright future ahead, PLincess~

Chai Kun

Chai Kun, as everyone knows, and as much as she denies it, is one of the geniuses in our class. Of course everyone in the class is a genius in their own right but there's no denying what a high achiever this girl is academically. Truly salute her. I was never close to her in our first year. Just a hi-bye, do-class-activities-together thing. But strangely, we got to know each other better through the magical realm of the Internet! Haha, she would leave nice comments on my blog and vice versa. Chai Kun has always struck me as someone who is soft-spoken and polite on the outside but determined and focused on the inside. She always comes up with impressive work, be it for assignments, presentations, or class activities. I wish I had the chance to get to know her better personally, but aiya, we have the rest of our lives for that what, kan? Depp will let me have my outings and gatherings no matter how heavy-hearted he might be. :p

Grace R

The mischievous, fidgety and cute one of the bunch. She reminds me of the little sister I never had. Always full of energy and creative ideas, sometimes it's hard to believe that she's only 2 months younger than me because I can't keep up with her energy level, seriously. That said, I have seen her sweet and mature side as well. When we were involved in the drama production last year, she took good care of the people around her. I still remember how I... umm, vomitted one night during practice and she made sure I was all right, getting me water and checking in on me. I truly appreciated that, and still do up till this day. Grace has a mind of her own, and she holds on strongly to what she believes in. An admirable trait in today's fickle world. :)

Joyce

Got to know this girl here in choir actually. As in, got to know her better. We shared secrets and gossiped about certain things/people we were unhappy with in our first year. LOL. Joyce is always up for a good time, and is usually the one to initiate outings/gatherings/get-togethers. She also made me feel very welcome in KL by bringing me to her church and introducing me to her friends and family. She's helpful and generous, and yep, she comes up with the lamest jokes, some of which I have to admit are kind of funny la. :) She's a warm and open person, and always strives to make you feel welcome and involved. She's also quick-witted and you can rely on her to come up with different suggestions/solutions whenever a problem/dilemma arises.

Jessie

Jessie and I were actually closer in our first year. She was still in 9th then, and she was my neighbour, so she would drop by occasionally to chit chat and we would pass notes/homework to each other. Would sometimes walk to classes together. She struck me as a busy person then, as she was involved in quite a number of college activities. Appears quiet at times but opens up once she starts talking/warming up to you.

Ling Hooi

Ling Hooi was also from 9th, and that was how I got to know her better. Gosh, how time flies! Seems like it was only yesterday that I went over to her room and she was sitting at her place with a mug of coffee in her hand, complaining about her 'sweet tummy', LOL. Ling Hooi is really smart, and yes, she does appear like a 'tai ka che' at times, especially when an urgent decision has to be made. She takes control like a veteran, haha. Ling Hooi is also a caring person, and never fails to make sure everyone is doing okay. She's also spontaneous and like Joyce, is one of the few to initiate get-togethers, makan outings, etc. Determined and focused, this girl knows what she wants and goes for it, never letting anything take her eyes off the ball. I've always admired that about her, and I know she'll do an excellent job in her chosen field.

Grace K

Mad woman. :) The ultimate bully. Kinky, horny and perverted. Very sick. Made even worse this semester, probably due to her thesis. :) But I must say, Kang has made my uni life a really colourful one. It cannot be denied that without her, the class feels quiet and different. She truly is the life of any party, and she cleans up after every party too, LOL. When she's serious, she's mature and can surprise you with her deep insights on matters. She's helpful and holds on strongly to her beliefs as well. Kang is the epitome of self-belief. When she sets her mind on something, it's difficult to pull her away from her focus and goal(s). She's fun to be with in good times, but comforting to be with in tough ones. As much as I complain about her, I think that she's a real gem of a person, and will be the soul of anything she does, and anywhere she goes.

Sheau Tyan

I never got the chance to know Sheau Tyan well, so it was a pleasant opportunity when she got involved in the drama production as well. Sheau Tyan is helpful and efficient, and super responsible. I've seen her transform from a quiet girl with the earphones to a chatty and outgoing lady, and she's neever one to turn down another person's request for help. My only regret is that I've not had a real chance to really get to know her better.

Jin-Vei

One half of the male couple in class. :) When I first met him I thought he seemed like a small boy. He was so quiet that I had no idea what to say to him at all. I think this went on until the 3rd or 4th sem where we talked a little more at the canteen in between classes. Found out that used to teach, and little by little I saw him turning into a mature person, and finally the uncle he is today. :p Seriously speaking though, Jin-Vei's a helpful and sincere person, and would offer to send me and Ash back to college whenever there are class outings. He can also be chatty, especially when it comes to his interests and hobbies.

Yoke Ling

Baby Yolk! Yoke Ling, to me, has changed a lot a lot a lot. She was a really quiet girl who didn't hang around much with the rest of the class. Today, she hops from one group to another with such ease and confidence. She's talented and creative, and is passionate about her interests/hobbies. She, like Kang, can be quite a bully but she makes up for it by being sweet and nice once in blue moon. *ahem* Am glad that I've at least had many opportunities to know her better in the past 3 semesters or so. She has an infectious laughter and never hesitates to share a light moment with you, and I'm grateful for all the many jokes and funny stories that she has provided over the years. :)

Wen Yi

Wen Yi, the dainty one. Another member of the Geniuses United Club. Soft-spoken and gentle, she hardly ever raises her voice, but if I'm not mistaken, she once mentioned that there is more to her than the quiet and calm exterior that she presents to us. Wen Yi is mature and looks at things from a different perspective. From the way she dresses to the way she carries herself, there's no denying that Wen Yi sets herself apart from many stereotypes. That said, I've never had a proper chance to get to know her better as well.

Boon Chuan

A fellow Malaccan and the other half of the male couple. Boon Chuan, like Jin-Vei, struck me as a really really quiet person initially. But soon we all found out about his lame jokes and his many experiences and stories, and realised that there was more to him than the quiet boy we saw. A very helpful guy as well, and is generous with offering help to those in need. Was impressed with the way he took care of everyone at Gua Tempurung. Gentlemanly and mature, perfect for his sweet other half. No, not Jin-Vei la.

Shi Yeun

Baby of the class, but definitely doesn't act like one. Shi Yeun's independent. A quiet girl on the surface but is so much more when you get to know her better. I still remember one day in our first year when she shared some of her secrets and stories with me, and it was a really nice experience as I got to know the real Shi Yeun that had been hiding behind her cool, quiet exterior. She's also helpful and caring, and I had the privilege of being introduced to some of her favourite artists during the insanely boring BUD lectures. :)

Fiona

Mummy of the class. Has been taking care of all our needs for 3 years now, and she has never failed us, not even once. She's truly responsible and focused, and I've had the privilege of talking and listening to her on many, many occasions. She's deep and mature, and knows what she wants for herself, and is not afraid to go for it. She defies the stereotype of what a young married woman should be like and I really respect her for that. I'm not sure about anyone else, but she's one of my role models in UM, and I anticipate great things and achievements from her.

Kate

Kate is also another one of our coursemates whom I regret not getting to know better. She's comfortable in her own skin, is sure of her own beliefs and yet open to differing views. She's mature and steady, and I hardly see her losing her composure. She's nice and sweet, yet turns around and surprises you with her jokes and antics. She has always struck me as someone motherly and stable, and I've enjoyed the many short occasions where we've had the chance to speak to each other.

Zsa Zsa

Zsa! :) Zsa, the modest, nice, sweet yet crazy-at-times music addict. I can truly consider it a privilege to have her as a friend. She's humble, holds on strongly to her faith and beliefs yet so openly accepts those of others. She's always there to listen, without passing any judgement, and she's a bundle of joy to talk to. She's generous, patient and kind, and is probably one of the most interesting characters I've met in uni. Like me, Zsa's passionate about fashion, books and music, and though we have different tastes and preferences, I feel comfortable sharing my views with her because I know she never judges. That says a lot about a person's character. :)

Irene

The bubbly and hyperactive one. Irene is indeed a vibrant and colourful character. Never really had the chance to know her well because she's always up and running. :) One thing I know for sure is that she's helpful and never selfish when it comes to information and knowledge. She's strong, optimistic and focused when it comes to pursuing what she wants to do in life. Her perseverance is indeed heartening.

Ashley

Ashley, probably the best and closest friend I've found in UM. I can safely say that there's no one I feel more comfortable with in uni than Ash. I can let my guard down when I'm with her, and her generosity and kindness never cease to amaze me. She has a heart bigger than Earth itself, and she most definitely is a believer. She believes in things and ideals that many dismiss and scoff at, but she never gives up, and refuses to stop seeing the beauty in life's simple things.
Ash is smart, though she may utter the most bimbotic and ridiculous things sometimes. She has the loudest and most infectious laugh I've heard from anyone. She's a great friend and wonderful companion, and you can always count on her when you're having a bad day, and I'm proud to say that I've had the chance to see the different sides that make up the real Ashley.

It's been a pleasure walking down this path with all of you, despite the challenging and draining moments. Thank you all for everything. :)

*Here's to us, guys. And the road ahead!*

  2. Hi there. Thanks. :)

Well, we mostly still refer to British English in our formal education but there's no denying the massive amount of influence American English (vocab-wise, especially) has on us, and the rest of the world, I'm sure. :)

Thanks for dropping by. Have a nice day.
